Coleman Insights recently completed a two-part study in conjunction with knowDigital, the NAB and Emmis Communications to help guide the positioning and marketing of NextRadio.  The NextRadio app allows consumers to listen to local FM stations using the FM chips already installed in most phones.  For more information on NextRadio, visit

One-On-One Interviews with Real Consumers

The first phase of the research featured one-on-one interviews in which we introduced consumers to the capabilities and benefits of NextRadio.  It demonstrated how NextRadio can address the portability needs of consumers.  Watch the 17-minute below to view footage of how real consumers responded to NextRadio.

    Warren – nice job with the study. I was wondering, all of the interviewees you showed mentioned Pandora (I assume unprompted). Did anyone have knowledge of the iHeartRadio app or other apps that stations make available? Thanks.

    Thanks, Marc. Yes, there were mentions of other streaming brands (such as iHeartRadio), but overall, we found that connecting those brands with the idea that you could listen to your favorite stations wherever you go is not happening with many consumers.

    The fact that no one even mentioned AM radio signals the death of AM as it’s over 50 listeners go off the the great beyond. Too bad there wasnt a AM/FM tuner in Smartphones that would really save data plan and battery life.
